We spent most of the weekend in Washington DC. It was spring down there right up to the point where we arrived, so we had to punt on outdoor activities and visit the National Natural History Museum instead. There were some enchanting wildlife photos and a whole lots of crazy animals to see, plus great people watching/kid listening. My favorite, overheard in the 'Origins of Human Beings' exhibit next to some very life-like models of homo erectus: "Look Dad! It's a bum!" Then we did Dupont Circle, the burger from BGR, and the shopping zone between Dupont and Logan. Along the way we found a mirror and some salad bowls, all in teak, at one of those vintage furniture places where you never know if the chair you like is
going to be $175 or $1750. It felt like a find.
Anthony's surprise 30th birthday party was in the evening at happening Arlington nightspot Liberty Tavern. We spent time with Doug & Johanna and laughed pretty hard at Anthony's completely vacant surprised face.
Sunday was pretty casual: breakfast in Georgetown, window shopping, driving home. It took a maddening amount of time to get home in the drizzling rain, but it was nice just to be in the car reveling in a fun weekend.
