I drove down to DC for the Fourth with friends; stayed at Doug & Johanna's, ate at Ben's Chili Bowl, saw the Gypsy Kings from the lawn at Wolf Trap with a great picnic besides, met Rocco and Aaron, had a cook-out at Constable's place, and generally had quite a time. This appears to be the year of the kid for our graduating class: 4 babies in the last 12 months.
Spent a fair amount of time in the car thinking about summer songs; this is all Katy Perry's fault but I can't remember a more catchy song hitting a summer weekend more perfectly. Looking back there have been Sheryl Crow songs and B.I.G. songs and others, but none so catchy in the 'hey raise this!' kind of way. I bet I heard "California Gurls" a dozen times and each time I kinda felt like I should immediately buy a Jeep and head west.
