This is a post about things that make me excited the way Slider gets excited when he plays volleyball in Top Gun.
1. Weezer: Rivers & the gang were at the Great Allentown Fair on Wednesday night everything about the show rocked. Outside, under a clear summer sky, amped up by The Gaslight Anthem's Jersey-desperation rock set, they put on a show to end all shows... punctuated halfway through the main set by "Surf Wax America." Our ears were ringing 36 hours later and we were still humming the rocking cover of MGMT's "Kids" even longer.
2. (College) Football: We made the trip and met some friends for the Michigan Stadium Re-Dedication Game on Saturday. We were thanked for being part of the largest crowd watching a football game anywhere in America today ever. It felt like late autumn at AAGOC tailgating with Heidi & Co. It felt like a Big Ten rivalry game with the big crowd. It felt louder during two flyovers and much louder on third downs. It was awesome and I'm still hoarse to prove it.
3. Baaaaand Take the Field!: We were right across from MMB and close enough to hear everything. If you are ever feeling sad look up some Michigan Marching Band clips on YouTube.
4. Winning(!): It has been a long, cold, dark, metaphorical winter for Michigan football fans and it felt like that first sunny day of spring on Saturday.
5. Building stuff: Back in the Valley we made some serious headway on the stairs. Part of the big progress was taking the sawzall to the existing deck railing, but we can now walk from deck to grass unimpeded. Hoorah!
