First day on skis this year up at Elk Mountain. Jenelle was a team player and hung out in the lodge while I spent the day getting reacquainted with winter. Three thoughts on skiing:
1. I miss the days when wearing a helmet was proof positive that you were a racer. As an early adopter of helmets I think I should be grandfathered into the racing perks I used to get.
2. Skiing is awesome but I'd be lying if a little part of me didn't also like the part where, at the end of a long day, you take off the hard shell boots, put sneakers back on, and jump in the car for a gorgeous ride home.
3. That part can't be as fun as skiing. Second to last run, on Wyalusing, I found myself airborne going Mach 2 on a wide-open and totally empty cruiser. This elicited an audible 'whooop' from me - when else does that happen? Skiing is awesome.

MLKJr weekend means that there was a spare weekend day for skiing. It's also nursery (and master bath) painting weekend so we've been doing that, too. Friday night we watched Allen's boys lose an absolute heartbreaker against Liberty. Tomorrow is a big day because we've got the 20-week ultrasound...and we need to make hay on projects. This feels like a stay-at-home long weekend we really needed.
